Boyle Heights is in need of a new story. Currently this urban neighborhood, immediately east of Downtown Los Angeles, is bursting with pain. The city is cursed with single family homes and deep poverty. God’s story’s for Boyle Heights is not one filled with pain, but of hope, healing, and unity. We aim to bring God’s true narrative for His city through Orphan City Church.
As Free Methodist we are first called to the poor and disenfranchised. To this end, God has called Alexander and Ashley Bowman to Boyle Heights. Ashley Garay-Bowman desires to use her passion for justice to help bring God’s story to life. Alexander Bowman found his narrative early in life, as a child of a fatherless home, discovering the importance of restoring the Fatherhood of God among all peoples.
Both Alexander and Ashley have a deep love and burden for the neighborhood of Boyle Heights, and together they have been called by God to plant Orphan City Church.
The mission of Orphan City Church is to bring Hope to the fatherless, Heal the wounds of broken people, and move in Unity to restore Boyle Heights and beyond to the family of God.
The vision of Orphan City Church is to restore a fatherless community to the family of God through Hope, Healing, & Unity.
