The Mission: Impossible movies made more than $2 billion worldwide. $2,000,000,000. That’s a lot of money. People enjoy seeing Ethan Hunt, played by Tom Cruise, defy the odds to stop traitors and terrorist from destroying the world as we know it. But I always had a problem with the initial title of the TV and movie series. If the mission was really impossible, how does Ethan Hunt consistently save the day, again and again. The title should be Mission: Very Very Difficult or Mission: Improbable, but that doesn’t sound nearly as moving and the movies probably wouldn’t have made $2 billion.

We have an impossible mission.

But here at Orphan City Church we do have an impossible mission, reach all people, from Boyle Heights to the end of the world, for Christ. It might be impossible alone, but it’s not impossible because Christ is with us. Our mission isn’t an easy one and our mission is this: to bring Hope to the fatherless, Heal the wounds of broken people, and move in Unity to restore Boyle Heights and beyond to the family of God.

God is calling the people of Boyle Heights to change the world.

We want the whole world to change because of what God is doing in our lives. This is going to be tough, but Jesus promises us in Mark 9:23 that, “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Will you believe with us that God is helping us bring HOPE, HEALING, and UNITY to the people of Boyle Heights we meet so we can change the world?

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” -Jesus

Join us as we join what God is doing in Boyle Heights and all over the world.
